okay, something just happened. i was going to camp, ready to leave at 515 for a mrt journey from pasir ris to joo koon. gonna bathe and get changed, then my mum woke up and tell me that she and my brother was fetching me to camp, and that we're leaving at 630. haha.
so here i am, back at my blog. looking through 'quotes', and i found some interesting one.
These are the intellectual ones:
-Silence is one of the hardest arguments to refute -Josh Billings-A day without laughter is a day wasted.
-A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.
-A good conscience is a continual Christmas.
-A great many people think that polysyllables(A word of more than three syllables.) are a sign of intelligence.
-A happy family is but an earlier heaven.
(nice use of words - 'is but')
-A lifetime of training for just ten seconds.
okay, i'm quite sure i don't fall into this category frequently, but sometimes, i still do.
and i have to say that this feeling is not exactly good, and i feel like 'someone else have to watch me perform again, it can't be over'
and i believe that this is the exact same feeling that manifested itself during my sec4 teacher's day performance, that made my entire class do an encore at the concourse.
damn, it can't be over. or is it?
-A true friend stabs you in the front.
i've got no idea why, but somehow, social complications starts to get REALLY complicated when we grow older. we start to grow wary of people around us, and start to think that humans are sly animals. why does this not happen when we were young? like, in elementary school? or is it just a coincidence on my part? is it true that humans really do become more crafty as they grow?
but do recognise your friend, when he comes up to you and tell you that you did something not right,(i've come to believe that this is not the same as wrong), and you can accept what he says, and do the same for him.
a friend who steps forward is, definitely, better than one who pretend he does not know.
-Adventure is worthwhile in itself.
that's why i always say that my NS life in the commando formation is a fantastic one
-All love shifts and changes. I don't know if you can be wholeheartedly in love all the time.
i'm glad, if you could. but i do believe that we constantly phase in and out of love, just the same way it works for appreciation:
we start to appreciate, and over time, we forget to appreciate and starts to take for granted, until something hits us in the head and we appreciate once more, and the cycle continues.
-All war is deception
national service is a good nation building tool. for ladies, try communicating(this word is not the same as talk, or speak, in my opinion) to the army officers and you'll realize why.
-‘the only way to avoid making mistakes is not to do anything. And that…will be the ultimate mistake’.
-Dr Goh Keng Swee
and this are the interesting facts that i found:
-A celebrity is a person who works hard all his life to become well known, then wears dark glasses to avoid being recognized.
-A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it.
-A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle.
i guess this is getting so true, especially in our era.
-Actors search for rejection. If they don't get it they reject themselves.
-All art is quite useless.
i'm sorry all the art fans, but i do believe that in order to appreciate art, we need to look beyond practicality.
-Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth
don't get me wrong, there IS value in art.
i once told one of my coachees this, but i think all of us have to start realizing this beyond the education system. science is not the truth.(but not a lie) science is what most people perceive to be true, and it stands after waves and waves of scrutiny. in singapore, look beyond what you are taught, and there is a whole pool of ideas and theories out there, which might not be the most widely accepted, but yet, it is not wrong, just not widely accepted. (maybe it challenge consensus, maybe there just appears to be a flaw in it that people can't pinpoint)
so, get the idea that the highest echelon of learning comes in the form of discovering information. and we can only be enlightened by information when we relate to it. and one of the simple way is through 'question'
i'm not one who studies what you give me, but i'm the one who will try my very best to solve any question you pose me. and that's the reason for the sidebar on the right.
how did i study for my examinations?
yes, i answered questions. questions is a gauge. a fair one. and so far, it's working, at least for me.
time now: 6015hrs
going to bathe and prepare to return to camp.
hope traffic is not too bad on a saturday morning, so i could grab some breakfast in camp.
appreciate you guys and girls coming to my blog!(i always think that it's a praise to call a female a girl, but an insult to call a male a boy.)
oh, and i'm going back to camp for 'post-action review' of an outfield i had 3 days ago.
SAF is moving towards this 'action-learning-process' thing, in which we do 'before-action-review', 'during action review, and 'post-action review'.
basically, it's called BAR, DAR, PAR.
one whole day of feedback and reflections, what went well, what did not go so well, what could be improved. actually SAF have quite a bit of valuable frameworks. only thing is that it is not exposed to many people.
okay, goodbye.
