In today's society, due to the extensive information technology, convention plays a large part of our lives - From fashion to education to leisure and even personality. However, it is important that we still hold on to who we are, because that's us.
Live a life that is personally fulfilling, not one that is fulfilling in others' eyes. Because, otherwise, at the very end of the day, at the time just before our death, we will realize that we have lived a life of regrets, for the simple reason that though our life, we lost ourselves trying to please everyone else.
It is common, very common, in fact, to hear of such advice nowadays. However, as the saying goes, all is easier said than done.
In my own words,
"The biggest problem of humankind is that while so much is known, only so much is done."
Genius is not about the money you make, neither is it about fame or prestige you acquire. Genius is you standing up against a universally accepted convention, genius is questioning what you have practically assumed to be true. Genius, is merely the ability to think critically, regardless of where the ideas originate from.
It's not that we don't have geniuses, but an education system of 'right' and 'wrong' have simply led our people into a system of belief. Coupled with extensive information technology which brings along with it a socially accepted behaviour to follow conventions, we slowly lose the genius in us.
Remember the days where we asked seemingly stupid questions? We were geniuses, then. Re-live your life of a genius.
