something i also noticed, is that intelligence is proportionate to the amount of thinking you put in your life. why do i say that, you may ask. basically, it's because i feel i've became less intelligent relative to my secondary school days. and the reason of this? i FEEL that it's because of the way i lived my college life till now. since the start of j1, i've been copying ALL my tutorial(unless im really bored), and assignments(ALL OF THEM). and i basically studied(studying refers to any time spent with attaining knowledge relevant to my subject in mind) around 1-2hours per week. hence, this is the cause of my weak foundation of my subjects.
-------THIS IS WHAT I THINK-------
also, because you don't think about solutions, you're disallowing your mind to grow(to be more active and alert), because the reason why your mind would grow is because of the activity it have to undergo. (it's like training your muscle, with problem-solving being your training) this will cause you to be less intelligent, and, being less intelligent, it'll reduce your desire to do your work in the future. this occurs in a cyclical process, unless a stopping force is introduced.
------END------
i thought about this, because when i tried to start doing my work, i found out that i'm unable to process the given information as quickly as i used to do. also, my mind have became less critical(which is obvious, when you go "why didn't i think of that", when you're presented the solution.)
but now, after getting started on my studies for one week, i'm able to focus better on my subjects, and reduce the amount of "why didn't i think of that" situations. luckily, i was able to put a stop to my cyclical process of the deterioration of my brain, if not i'll probably just fail my A's. (if you don't know my goals for A's, it's 4A's for my 4H2 subjects, which i've set since the start of college life, in order to get into the 'chemical engineering' course in NUS.)
now, i'm trying to make a miracle just like my prelims. here's a brief overview of my grades last year:
J1 Mid-year Examinations:
- GP: U
- Economics: U
- Physics: U
- Chemistry: U
- Mathematics: U
- Chinese: D
- GP: D
- Economics: B
- Physics: A
- Chemistry: U
- Mathematics: A
- Chinese: D
- GP: U
- Economics: U
- Physics: U
- Chemistry: U
- Mathematics: U
Anyway, the conclusion of this WHOLE event is that if you fail to keep your mind active in thinking, the result is extremely detrimental. in my case, the cyclical process occuring over a period of one and a half years is really very damaging on my ability to study.
so, everyone who reads this post, please do not stop occupying your mind with thoughts, any thoughts that you can think of!
in a nutshell, a chinese idiom can summarize this entire post:
CHINESE:逆水行舟,不进则退(provided by my beloved girlfriend, and if you're wondering how good is she at chinese, she got A1 for normal chinese, and HCL too.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION:in a fast-flowing river, one can only move towards their destination by rowing his/her boat, otherwise, one will experience negative progress.
P.S. if you know the chinese idiom, and you can type chinese characters, pls tag them on my tagboard because my computer is unable to type chinese characters!
